the challenge

I’ve been wanting to get back into yoga for a while now and thanks to this app called Asana Rebel, I can. It’s a pretty cool app, at least I think so. It reminds you to drink 16 ounces of water every morning after you wake up. It has a daily quiz on different sorts of things like what pose is this or which fruit has more sugar content. It will give you ideas that you can add to your daily schedule like no caffeine after 2pm. It has mood music and so much more and guess what? I only paid $30 for the entire year’s subscription!!! You can’t beat that. Oh yeah I forgot about the yoga part. You can watch all types of yoga videos ranging in difficulty and time and you can do as many or as little as you want, no one is watching. The plus side for me is that I don’t have to be so self conscious like I am when I go to an actual class. The only thing I have to worry about is Mochi trying to get my attention the whole time I’m doing yoga. LOL She licks my face like crazy and my arms when I’m doing downward dog. She will get all her toys and make a pile right under me. When I am in a sitting position, she will lay right up against my legs and expect me to rub her belly and of course I do interchanging with yoga poses. It’s pretty funny. I love it.

Okay, the challenge. The challenge is, now that I’ve started, I have to keep going. The down fall of doing yoga at home is you can make all sorts of excuses to not do yoga. I’m cooking dinner. I’m too tired. I don’t have time. Blah Blah Blah. Honestly I started this thing mid October. I was good for 3 days and then one day I wore the wrong shoes and hurt my foot and I couldn’t do yoga that night or the following night. Then the weekend came. Then Monday came and honestly, I was being lazy. I thought to myself, it’s Halloween. I’ll give myself to the end of the month and then it’s perfect, the 1st of November starts on a Monday so I will start then. That is exactly what I did and now it is Tuesday. Now I almost talked myself out of doing yoga last night but I’m pretty proud of myself for actually at least doing one 9 minute session. My excuses were that I went grocery shopping so the rest of my night got pushed back. Then walking Mochi got late. The usual clean up after the pets and feed them and then I would have to cook, no time for yoga. Well I just popped meatloaf and veggies (courtesy of Trader Joe’s) in the over and set the timer for 35 minutes. Now I actually had time to do yoga. I started this 28 day challenge so last night was Day 1. 9 minute video. Done. Finished it. Took a shower and then dinner was ready. Yay! Dinner was a little later than usual but that’s okay, I did my yoga.

Tonight. Tuesday night. Day 2. I have no excuses to skip today. I don’t have to go grocery shopping. I have leftovers from last night. Tonight should be a breeze. I can do the challenge exercise and then some and get a better workout tonight. NO EXCUSES!!! Weekends are no excuses either! Even though I may have events going on, I should still be able to squeeze in a 10 minute session unless of course I’m out all day. Okay okay I know I need a rest day here or there but I’m being serious. I’m going to do this!

The other challenge is that I hope I don’t get lazy or get discouraged because I want fast results. I know it’s not going to happen overnight or in the next week or two or whatever my high expectations are, I just have to be patient and just keep doing it. It’s only going to benefit me in so many ways. So LET’S DO THIS!!!
